Hey there! Rec is new here, but we promise you'll like using it a lot. And we're here to help with all your questions as you get up and running. If you have any further inquiries or need assistance during the process, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.
Recreation
- Non-residents are welcome to register for classes, however, there is an additional non-resident fee for most classes. The fees listed for all classes indicate the fees for residents/non-residents. When only one fee is indicated, there is no additional fee for non-residents. Non-resident registration begins one to two weeks after resident registration.
- Registration is not accepted in class. You must be registered prior to attending classes and activities.
- If for any reason you are not satisfied with a class, a full credit will be held on account with the Registration Office, provided the request is made to the Registration Office at least one business day before the third scheduled class meeting (exceptions to this policy are noted on your receipt and in the class description). No credits will be issued after this time. A credit voucher will be sent to you indicating the amount of your credit. You have one year from the date of issue to use your credit. You may use your credit for any member of your family, for any class held by the City of Torrance Community Services Department. If you do not receive your credit voucher within one week of your request, please contact the Registration Office at 310.618.2720. Credit on account will automatically be used to pay for registrations done online.
Yes, anyone looking to register for a program will need to create a new account on our updated platform to access Parks and Recreation Services.
- Visit Torrance.Rec.us now and create your account. Add household members to your profile: If you're registering for activities on behalf of your family, be sure to add them to your account. This will streamline the registration process, allowing you to sign everyone up in one go.
You may email it to Enroll@TorranceCA.Gov; fax it to 310.781.7598 or bring it to the Registration Office at 3031 Torrance Boulevard.
Acceptable forms for proof of residency MUST be current (dated within the past 30 days) and will be limited to the following:
California Driver’s License
Car Registration or Car Insurance Premium
Public Utility Bill such as gas, electric, water & trash, or cable (telephone bills, bank statements, mortgage statements, rental agreements, and satellite bills are NOT accepted).Proof of Torrance residency will be required for all Torrance residents when registering for the first time, if you move to a different Torrance address, or if mail is returned.
- There are four easy ways to register! You can register in the following priority order:
1) online at torrance.rec.us, 2) fax-in, 3) mail-in and 4) walk-in. See Registration Guidelines for more information. - Classes are offered quarterly. The Winter sessions begins in early January, the Spring session begins in late March or early April, the Summer session begins in late June (the week after the Torrance Unified School District schools are out for the summer), and the Fall session begins in mid September. For specific registration and class start dates, please refer to the Torrance Seasons Catalog or view the classes on the web page.
After you create your profile on Rec at torrance.rec.us, use the Fast Track feature to save your favorites (this works just like a wish list!). This will make it quick and easy to check out on registration day.
I can see a “cancel” option for a class I previously registered for, if I cancel will I automatically get a refund?
No, you still need to follow standard refund request procedures with the City of Torrance. Canceling online only frees up a spot for another person. You still need to contact the City of Torrance at 310-618-2720 or Enroll@TorranceCA.Gov to request a refund. You will be refunded according to City policies.Please contact support@rec.us and we will get back to you as soon as possible to help resolve the issue.
There are several possible reasons why you are unable to register online.
• You do not have a current online account.
• Your account has you listed as the default "non-resident status" as you have not yet provided our office with current proof of Torrance residency.
• The class is full.
• The class you requested is not open for online registration at this time. Please check the registration dates.
• Registration for that class has ended.
• The participant is not age appropriate for the class and the system will not accept your registration. Students must be age appropriate by the first class meeting.If you are still having problems with our online registration, call the Registration Office Help Desk at 310-618-2723 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- The Registration Office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every other Friday, and is closed on all city holidays.

- If you have an online account, you may print copies of all of your receipts and transactions. If you do not remember your online account information, visit the Class Schedule page and click on the "Forgot my Password" link or contact the Registration Office at 310.618.2720.
- You must select a class that is within the proper age range of your child. All students must be age appropriate by the first class meeting.
- You will be added to a wait list for the class. You do not pay for classes that you are on wait lists for. If an opening becomes available, students will be contacted by phone or email in the order they were placed on the wait list. If you are contacted, you will have three business days to contact the Registration Office and pay for the class. Failure to do so will result in your name being removed from the wait list and the next person on the list will be contacted.
- For most classes, requests for refunds MUST be made one business day before the first class meeting. NO REFUNDS will be given after that time. An administration fee of 20%, not to exceed $25 or less than $3 per class, will be deducted from ALL refunds. Credit card refunds will be processed within one week of the request. Check refunds will be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks. A full refund will only be made when the class is cancelled by the city.
Exceptions to this policy will be noted on your receipt and on the class description.
- Bring your receipt and any supplies required to your first class.
- Registration closes for MOST classes prior to the third class meeting. See specific class descriptions or visit the Class Schedule on our web page for individual class policies.
- The myTorranceCA app is available in both the App Store for iOS devices, and in the Google Play store for Android devices.
The Registration Office is located in the West Annex of City Hall, 3031 Torrance Blvd, Torrance.
When you register using a credit or debit card, you are charged a 2% non-refundable convenience fee. This fee will help recover some of the costs associated with credit card fees. The fees are charged per class, per person for all credit and debit card transactions.
Previous credits with the City of Torrance will be transferred to your new account on torrance.rec.us. Once your new account has been created you should see the credit reflected on your profile by the second week of May. If you do not see the credits on your account, and believe this is a mistake please reach out to Enroll@TorranceCA.Gov and include your name, phone number and email.
No, your household information will not transfer over to the new account. You will need to re-enter household details when creating your new account.
No, for your security, payment methods will not transfer over to the new account. You will need to input your payment methods again when setting up your new account.
If you have previously verified your residency with that City of Torrance, we will make every effort to transfer your residency status once you set up an account on rec.us To make sure you are ready for summer registration, we highly recommend you create an account 3-5 days before registration day, and verify that your status has transferred by following the steps below:

At any point in time, The City of Torrance may request that you reverify your residency status. If you cannot reverify your residency, The City of Torrance reserves the right to remove you from programming that was signed up for under the pretense of being a resident.
