Join the ASC for the 2024-2025 school year! This program is a partnership between the city of Torrance Community Services Department and Torrance Unified School District.

The After School Club Program is geared towards youth in grades 1st-8th. This recreation program is designed to promote self-esteem through group interaction and self-expression. The program offers games, sports, arts, crafts, and a variety of activities. Structured time is set aside for homework each day.

This program is based on a ratio of one staff member per ten youth at Elementary Schools and one staff member per thirteen youth at Middle Schools. Enrollment is limited to all schools and participant minimums are required.

PROGRAM LOCATIONS

The program is offered August through June, following the Torrance Unified School District's schedule. Programs are offered at the following schools:

Elementary Schools: Anza (Cafeteria), Arnold (Cafeteria), Carr (Room 7), Edison (Cafeteria), Fern (Greenwood Park Room 29), Hickory (Cafeteria), Towers (Cafeteria), Victor (Cafeteria) and Walteria (Cafeteria).

Middle Schools: Bert Lynn (Cafeteria) Madrona (Greenwood Park Room 28) and Richardson (Room 16).

Additional sites may be added based on need and staff availability. Program locations/rooms may change throughout the school year.

PROGRAM DAYS

The After School Club program meets Monday through Friday after school until 6:00 p.m. The program follows the Torrance Unified School District calendar. The After School Club will not be available on days that school is not in session, including holidays, student free days and winter/spring break.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND FORMS

Torrance Residents will have the first opportunity to register for the program. After the Torrance Resident Registration, Non-Torrance Residents will have an opportunity to register for any remaining spaces.

The Registration Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with alternate Fridays closed. The Registration Office will be closed on June 14, 28, July 4, 12, 26 and August 9 and 23, 2024.

Financial assistance may be available to Torrance residents for children under the age of 18 years of age and seniors for Torrance Community Services Department classes and programs. Guidelines have been established to assist families who are residents of the City of Torrance. Scholarships are based on need, merit, and availability of funding. If your child has a severe allergy, please complete the Severe Allergy Form
If your child needs to take medication while at the After School Club, please complete the Medication Policy

GENERAL INFORMATION

Please bring a completed Participant Emergency Form and Parent/Guardian and Participant Agreement to the first day of the After School Club.
All participants must be picked up by an authorized adult, age 18 or older. All authorized adults must be listed on the Participant Emergency Form.
Participants will need to bring their own snacks and water each day. Food will not be provided by the program.
There will be time for homework each day, but participants are not tutored, and homework is not checked for accuracy.
Report all absent participants by calling a supervisor at (310) 618-2994 prior to 2:30 p.m. or the After School Club after 2:30 p.m.
Late fees are charged per participant beginning at 6:01 p.m. Please be prompt in picking up your child.
Newsletters will be available for each month of the program.
