Rebates start at $45 per Barrel or $250 per Cistern

Collecting and re-using rainwater for lawns and gardens minimizes the amount of water flowing into your storm drains, sewer systems, and local waterways. Plants and microbes prefer rainwater because it is naturally “soft” and free of chlorine, fluoride, and other chemicals.

Flow Monitor devices monitor your home’s water use and can help detect leaks. These devices are relatively new products. Research carefully to find the device that best fits your needs and budget.

 Chances are that you have seen flooded sidewalks in your neighborhood. Now you can eliminate wasteful runoff with a SoCal Water$mart-recommended rotating nozzles by applying directed, uniform water distribution to your landscape.

Rebates start at $80/controller and $35/Station 

A soil moisture sensor measures soil moisture content in the active root zone where it is installed on your property. The sensor is placed in a location that best represents the overall soil moisture condition of the site, and must be connected to an irrigation system controller that accepts a signal from the sensor. A measurement is taken before each scheduled irrigation event, and the irrigation controller bypasses the scheduled run cycle if the soil moisture is above a certain threshold as defined by the user. 

Rebates start at $80/controller and $35/Station

Weather Based “Smart” Controllers for irrigation work on a simple principle: provide the appropriate watering schedule, adjust for weather changes and irrigate based on the needs of the landscape and soil conditions. A smart controller will automatically reduce the watering times as the weather gets cooler and less water is needed. Then as the weather begins to warm up, the controller will add more watering time. The way this typically works is that you set the controller for a default maximum watering time, based on the hottest time of year. Then the controller reduces that time amount by a percentage value when less water is needed.

 Rebate: Get $2 or more per square foot for up to 5,000 square feet of lawn converted in your front or back yard. 

The intent of the Turf Replacement program is to have homeowners remove their existing grass and to replace it with organic, drought tolerant landscaping. Please note, synthetic turf is not an approved conversion option for this program. Following the success of other incentive programs focusing on landscaping and turf grass removal, the Turf Replacement program aims to combine turf removal, irrigation modification and rainwater retention or filtration to support reuse or soil absorption of rainwater. Every turf replacement project will include:

• 3 plants per 100 square feet of area transformed
• A stormwater retention feature
• No hardscape within the transformed area, except permeable hardscape
• Replacement or modification of overhead spray sprinklers
