Donate to a Food Rescue Organization

The City of Torrance recommends working with a local organization to eliminate food waste and provide food to community members in need. Donating food from your business or home to a food rescue organization has many benefits, including:

1. Contribute to a worthwhile cause that helps fight hunger
2. Reduce food waste, resources, and greenhouse gas emissions
3. Comply with state and local requirements including Senate Bill 1383. See edible food recovery requirements for SB 1383-defined commercial edible food generators.
4. Donations are tax-deductible
5. Reduce waste disposal costs
