Project Description
This project installed the next phase of Protective Permissive Left Turn Flashing Yellow Arrows and improved left turn operations at the intersections of Anza Avenue at Lomita Boulevard and Anza Avenue, Del Amo Boulevard at Maple Avenue, Madrona Avenue at Plaza Del Amo, and Madrona Avenue at Emerald Street. With the Flashing Yellow Arrow Protected/Permissive Left Turn signal display, drivers now have the right-of-way to turn left on a green arrow (the Protected mode), and allow to turn left on a flashing yellow arrow after yielding to on-coming traffic (the Permissive mode).
The project also improved traffic signal operations at the intersections of Skypark Drive at the Costco/Lowes Driveway and at Pacific Coast Highway and Madison Street.
Project Location
The second phase of Flashing Yellow Arrow signals were installed at the locations below:
- Anza Avenue and Lomita Boulevard (in the southbound direction along Anza Avenue)
- Del Amo Boulevard and Maple Avenue (in the westbound direction along Del Amo Boulevard)
- Madrona Avenue and Plaza Del Amo (in the northbound direction along Madrona Avenue)
- Madrona Avenue and Emerald Street (in the northbound and southbound directions along
Additional phasing improvements were proposed for the following intersections:
- Skypark Drive and Costco/Lowe's Driveway
- Pacific Coast Highway and Madison Street
Project Status
Phase II was completed in 2018.
