Home MenuResidential and Arterial Pavement Improvement FY23-24, I-159/I-139
Engineering Manager Project Engineer
Elizabeth Overstreet, P.E. Cesar Aguilar
Project Description
This project is designed to provide scheduled maintenance to existing asphalt paved roadways. In areas where ponding occurs, some curb, gutter, sidewalk and tree removal/replacements will be performed prior to pavement repairs. Areas requiring additional pavement improvement will include dig-outs or cold milling and overlay.
Cold milling and overlay requires the removal of the top layer (typically 2 inches) of a street and replacing it with a new layer of bituminous pavement.
The cold milling and overlay process requires full closures of streets for approximately 9 to 10 hours to allow for preparation of work (e.g. street sweeping and setting up traffic control), cold milling and overlay, material curing, and clean-up. No vehicles will be allowed on the street until the work is complete.
Project Status
Construction began July 1st with the anticipated completion date to be April 2025.
