Project Description

The North Torrance Wellfield Project (NTWFP), Phase 3 will utilize the Design-Build methodology for design and construction of new water infrastructure. Major components include the following:

Demolition of existing reservoir, pumping and treatment facilities, and connections to Well No. 9 at McMaster Park;
Construction and equipping of two new wells;
Construction of chemical treatment and storage facilities;
Construction of a booster pump station;
Construction of a 2.5-million gallon storage reservoir; and
Site improvements, equipment, buildings, utilities, and appurtenances to support the operation of the NTWFP.

Project Status

A temporary blower-scrubber system is in operation at Well 10 to address odor concerns following a successful investigation and testing period. Staff is proceeding with permitting, purchase, and installation of a permanent blower-scrubber system for Well 10. Wells 9 and 10 are currently in operation.
