Set up Service
City of Torrance businesses, including multi-family property owners/managers, can choose any of the licensed solid waste private haulers to work with. Businesses can negotiate service level, frequency of pickup, and cost. Contracts are not required by the City.
Tips for Setting up Service

However, per City code, businesses must arrange for adequate collection of services, including refuse, recycling, and organics.
- Contracts are not required: The City does not require businesses to enter into a contract with private solid waste hauler. If you choose to sign a contract for service, read the details; it may be difficult to change your levels or cost of service during the duration of your contract.
- Containers are provided by private hauler. Carts and other external containers for trash, recycling, and organics collection will be provided by your private solid waste hauler. They are required to label all external containers with stickers that clearly identify the items that can go inside.
- Recycling is required: Nearly all Torrance businesses are required to recycle paper, plastic, metal, glass bottles and jars. Please reach out to your provide solid waste hauler to confirm materials accepted and other outreach and educational material.
- Organics Collection is required: Nearly all Torrance businesses are required to separate their food scraps, yard waste, and food-soiled paper into a green organics collection cart.
