Stanley Remelmeyer was a major fixture in the Torrance community for over 40 years, most notably as the first full time city attorney of Torrance. As the city was beginning to experience terrific growth in the 1950s, he was instrumental in shaping the attitude, function and overall planning of Torrance.
During Stanley Remelmeyer's career, he galvanized the City's progress in community cable and public parks. He was instrumental in acquiring beautiful open space areas, such as Madrona Marsh, Miramar Park, Sur La Brea Park, and Columbia Park, ultimately increasing the public parkland from 100 acres to 350 acres. He also developed a model for the structuring of cable television franchising agreements that brought community television access to the City of Torrance. Through his commitment to community service, Stanley Remelmeyer made positive contributions to the community as a public servant and a private citizen.
