Victor E. Benstead Plunge

Victor E. Benstead served as a member of the Torrance City Council for 12 years, beginning in 1952. He assumed a leading role in providing the people of Torrance with parks, playgrounds, and other recreational facilities, which is why the Municipal Pool at the Civic Center (The Plunge) was named in his honor. In addition to his 12 years of service as a councilman, Victor Benstead served as chairman of both the Parks and Recreation and Police and Fire Council Committees.
