Torrance Regional Transit Park and Ride Regional Terminal

The state-of-the-art, seven acre facility will serve as a multi-modal transportation hub for the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. Construction began in the summer of 2018 and is estimated to last approximately, 12 to 14 months, the terminal is scheduled to open and begin serving the South Bay late 2019. The Torrance Transit Park and Ride Regional Terminal will aid in regional efforts to alleviate congestion, reduce emission levels, reduce fuel consumption and coordinate public transportation services. The Torrance Transit Park and Ride Regional Terminal is projected to be a certified gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Structure.  Some of the highlights include (Current Green Business and Sustainability Industry (GBCI) approved items).

Solar Powered Bus Stop Lighting

The purpose of the solar powered bus stop lighting project was to identify a sustainable source while improving safety at bus stops and shelters with low or no light source. Project completion is to be determined.

Red Car Rubber Wheel Trolley

Transit intends on purchasing six rubber wheel, all –electric buses that externally are replicas of the Pacific Electric Red Car. Vehicles would provide enhanced connectivity between Downtown Torrance, medical facilitates, hotels, financial and business district. Additionally, the project will help to address congestion in these corridors, promote economic growth, job creation and greater access to public transit.  Project completion is to be determined.
