The California Public Records Act (CPRA) describes individuals eligible to obtain copies of records, as well as detailing any exemptions. Those eligible for the release of records includes:

 

  1. The victim
  2. The authorized representative of the victim
  3. An insurance carrier against which a claim has been and/or might be made
  4. Any person suffering bodily injury, property damage or loss

 

If you fall under one of the eligible categories above, please follow the steps below to obtain a copy of your report:

 

  1. Complete and Print a Request for Release of Police Records
  2. Fill out a check or money order for $1.00 made payable to: THE CITY OF TORRANCE
  3. Make a copy of your valid photo ID
  4. Drop-off or mail in the completed Request for Release of Police Records, check/money order, and copy of valid ID to:

If you do not fall under one of the eligible categories, you are still eligible to receive certain information on calls for service based on CPRA. The Torrance Police Department is happy to assist you in obtaining or reviewing any records, documents, or reports to which you are legally entitled.
