The Torrance Fire Department's first priority for providing for life safety, environmental protection, and property conservation is through education.
Each year we celebrate Fire Service Day in May, with an Open House of all our fire stations and an apparatus display/demonstration at Wilson Park, as well as co-sponsor a Public Safety Fair at the Del Amo Fashion Center the second Saturday in October. Throughout the year we participate in many corporate sponsored safety fairs throughout the community.
We are actively involved in elementary and high school education through Basic Aid Training (BAT) and the Safer City Initiative.
We currently offer audience appropriate presentations to local schools, community groups and businesses on:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Exit Drills In The Home (EDITH)
- Fire extinguisher use
- Fire Safety
- First Aid
- Shelter In Place
- Vial Of Life
