The Torrance Fire Department has 6 BLS Ambulances, one at each fire station. 5 BLS Ambulances work a 48/96 schedule and 1 BLS Ambulance works 12-hour shifts.
BLS 91, BLS 92, BLS 93, BLS 95, and BLS 96
Below is an example of the 48/96 schedule and continues to rotate, 2 days on, 4 days off.

BLS 94
Below is an example of the 12-hour shifts. A shift always works M, Tu, W and B shift always works Th, F, Sa. They alternate Sundays and only work 8 hours on those days.

The EMS Captain is responsible for AO assignments, but may base them on seniority.
Requirements:
- Possess and maintain a California Class C driver’s license and an Ambulance Driver certificate from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
- Possess and maintain a current Emergency Medical Technician-1 (EMT-1) certificate from Los Angeles County*.
- Possess and maintain a valid Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
*Note: Currently, the County will allow any California accredited EMT to work in Los Angeles.
