The City of Torrance Fire Department interacts with developers, architects and engineers to meet fire protection and hazardous materials requirements for building and developments. Please refer to "Plan Check" for more information.

Film Permits

 Please refer to the City Manager's page for forms and information how to obtain a filming permit.

If the Fire Department deems it necessary to have a Fire Watch, you must request overtime labor. To do so, please submit this form and send it to the Fire Prevention Office.


 

Temporary Use Permits

Temporary Fire Permits are required for any of the following items. Please call our office for information about fees.

Code Permit 

  • C1 Candles and open flames in assembly areas.  
  • C2 Carnivals and fairs.  
  • C10 Christmas tree lots.   
  • F2 Fireworks.   
  • G1 General Use.  
  • L2 Liquid-or gas-fueled vehicles or equipment in buildings.    
  • P1 Parade floats.        

Tents, Canopies and Temporary Membrane Structures  

  • T11 Any canopy greater than 400 sq. ft.  
  • T12 Tents greater than 200 sq. ft. to 1000 sq. ft.   
  • T13 Tents over 1000 sq. ft. 

 


 

Annual Permits

Annual Permits are required for any of the following items. After initial processing, the fee will appear on your business license renewal each year.
