TorranceAlerts
"As a general rule, TorranceAlerts is to be used when the public is being asked to take some action (e.g. evacuate, prepare to evacuate, shelter in place, boil tap water before drinking, missing child, notification of closure of the incident)
Upon a decision to activate, TorranceAlerts will be used to send a message through one or more of the Methods above (landline, subscription service you can opt-in for, and IPAWS, which is managed by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA)). The message will describe the situation and recommended action the community should take, including impact on businesses and households via telephone, email and/or text [(Short Message Service (SMS)].

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
- The Wireless Emergency Alerts system is an essential part of America's emergency preparedness. Since its launch in 2012, the WEA system has been used more than 70,000 times to warn the public about dangerous weather, missing children, and other critical situations – all through alerts on compatible cell phones and other mobile devices.
- WEA is a public safety system that allows customers who own compatible mobile devices to receive geographically targeted, text-like messages alerting them of imminent threats to safety in their area.
