Get Involved At The Marsh! Volunteer.

Volunteering is a special way that you can help in the preservation of the Madrona Marsh Preserve. We value your time, effort and commitment to a worthwhile job. All of our volunteers are trained in their chosen position or may need to attend a short orientation.

Benefits to the Volunteer: Opportunity to volunteer in a setting that benefits the community and to learn more about nature in the South Bay. Volunteering may also open up new career paths related to natural history and ecology.

Not only would you be learning so much but you also get to meet wonderful people, have fun, and have a firsthand experience of nature at its best! You don't have to be an expert; we will train and assist you.

There are many volunteer opportunities at the Madrona Marsh Preserve & Nature Center. Whether your looking for a long term commitment or a short term volunteer assignment, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.

Here are some activities to choose from.

Marsh Short Term VolunteerThe Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center offers short-term volunteering opportunities that can fit your schedule.

Habitat Restoration -  A short-term volunteer can assist with invasive species removals and habitat restoration on Saturday's from 8:45 am. - Noon (rain cancels).  These volunteers help remove non-native plants, replace them with locally grown native plants, and remove debris and trash left at the Preserve. The work you will have done will attract many birds, butterflies and other insects.

Short-term volunteering on Saturday's can be used towards community service hours for high school and college. Students need to register for specific Saturday Restoration events (no walk-in and late-comers will be sent home), be prepared to work, wear close-toed shoes and leave all electronics at home. If the volunteer needs to call home, they may use our phone any time.

  • Age Requirement

Open to all ages; participants 14 years and under must be accompanied by an adult and all participants 18 and under must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

The Habitat Restoration program is scheduled on an intermittent basis until further notice.
