Airports are a unique environment compared to other places that you may have been to or worked at. At an airport, because there are various types of vehicles operating in one environment, there is a greater potential for accidents and injuries. Therefore, it is up to each airport user to follow the rules of the airport and prioritize safety first.
The Airport Ground Vehicle Training Handbook was created in order to teach individuals the rules and knowledge needed in order to operate a ground vehicle at Torrance Municipal Airport/Zamperini Field. The purpose of this handbook and the subsequent exam is to prevent accidents involving ground vehicles and pedestrians from occurring. The handbook will walk you through various topics, such as key terms used on an airport, an overview of the airfield layout, airport signage and markings, rules and regulations, important things to know, and finally, what to do in the event of an accident. This will prepare you to take our Airport Ground Vehicle Training Exam, which is required of all airport users operating ground vehicles at Torrance Airport. You will need to pass with an 80% in order to possess a keycard for airport access. The links to the handbook and exam are below.
