Asam Sheikh was elected to Torrance City Council representing District 3 on June 7, 2022.

Sheikh has 25 years of professional experience with American Honda Motor, Co, Inc. He currently works as a Senior Financial Analyst and North America Project Systems Lead in the Financial Planning & Analysis Department (FP&A).  He was awarded the Challenging Spirit Award from the President and CEO of the company for his involvement in the NH Circle Virtual Runoff, a company-sponsored program to problem solve and improve processes.

He has been an active member of the Torrance community for decades. Beginning 1/18/2023, he will serve as the new Chairman to the ICOC (Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee) of Torrance Unified School District (TUSD). The primary role of the committee is to review ongoing bond expenditures. He currently serves as  Board Director for the Torrance Education Foundation.

Sheikh also serves as the Chair of the Strategic Plan Committee and is a member of the Employee Relations and Public Safety Committee and the Finance and Governmental Operations Committee. He also served as the Chair of the Torrance Employee Relations Committee, Torrance Library Commission and the 2020 Census Committee, and is the former Chair of the Planning Commission.

Sheikh was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan. He attended Punjab College earning his first Master of Business Administration degree. He then immigrated to the United States to fulfill the American Dream. He continued his education in the U.S. earning a Certificate of Computerized Bookkeeping from Southern California Regional Occupational Center (SCROC), followed by a second MBA at Cal State University Dominguez Hills along with a Certificate of Accounting Award through UCLA Extension.

While studying in America, Sheikh met the love of his life, Jill whom he shares two children. Sheikh is an avid tennis player serving as Captain of the United States Tennis Association Team for Beach Cities.
