Sharon Kalani was first elected as the District 4 Torrance City Councilmember on March 3, 2020. She was elected again to serve her second term on March 5, 2024.

She currently serves as the Chair of the Employee Relation and Public Safety Committee, is a member of the Armed Forces Day Ad Hoc, Finance and Governmental Operations, and Transportation Committees, and has previously served on the Strategic Plan Committee and Citizen Development and Enrichment Committee.

Kalani had an extensive career in banking with over 25 years of experience; last holding the position of Senior Vice President. Currently, Kalani is a valued and trusted advisor at Green Hills Memorial Park. In Kalani’s 18+ years with Green Hills, she has earned the highest level of achievement winning the Circle of Excellence award each year since its inception. Her ability to combine a caring and personal approach affords families the knowledge necessary to make responsible decisions with their immediate needs and advanced planning.

Kalani’s reach goes beyond the community, as a judge for The International Cat Association (TICA). Her passion for felines has her traveling all over the world. She helped to create TICA’s Junior Exhibitor Program which teaches children about responsible animal care and sportsmanship. In addition, she is a past Chairperson and current member of the Board of Managers with the Torrance South Bay YMCA and recipient of their Service Above Self award. In the past, Sharon was a Hospice volunteer at Torrance Memorial Hospital. She holds Rescue Diver Certification with PADI and oversees two annual SoCalROC scholarships she established.

Kalani has been married to her husband for over 36 years. They have raised two wonderful daughters in Torrance and are enjoying being grandparents.
