7th Annual Cardboard Box City
The 7th Annual Cardboard Box City will take place at St. James School in Torrance the weekend of May 5th-6th. Gates will open at 3:00 p.m. for this fun and inspiring event in which participants create their own shelter from materials provided and sleep outdoors overnight in a safe and secure area. Participants and their sponsors raise funds and awareness for Family Promise of the South Bay and the homeless families they serve. Most of us can't imagine what it would be like to lose our homes and be forced to sleep in our cars, on the streets, or to rely on friends and family for refuge. But sleeping in a cardboard box is a reality for many in our community, and when children are involved it is especially heartbreaking. Entertainment throughout the evening includes dinner, live music, games, raffle, movie and breakfast the morning of May 6th.
