The City of Torrance is required by the State Water Resource Control Board to reduce toxics, sediment and nutrients that come from storm water flows and urban runoff from Torrance into Machado Lake, in Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park.
The City is now developing and implementing the Walnut Basin Storm Water Capture and Groundwater Replenishment Basin Project, I-173 to divert polluted storm water and urban runoff away from Machado Lake. Routing storm water back into Walnut Basin provides new opportunities for habitat restoration and enhancements for the community to enjoy.
An open house style Public Outreach will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Walnut Basin (Entrance gate at 240th Street and Walnut St)
Your input is important to determine future uses for Walnut Basin.
