Bona-fide Torrance-based, non-profit groups may submit events to be included in the Torrance citywide calendar pending approval. The City of Torrance Citywide Calendar System Administrator (Office of Cable and Community Relations) is responsible for determining which events are appropriate for posting and then approving a calendar entry. The administrator also has the capability to submit the event to other calendars so that your event may be posted on more than one calendar if appropriate. Events must occur within Torrance city limits to be considered for inclusion and submitted within the categories already identified within the calendar. Find out How To Submit.

Meet the Author/Book Signing Event - Mexican Americans in Torrance

Come meet Author, Alice Duarte Solis, as she discusses her new book entitled, Mexican Americans in Torrance.

La Rana (“The Frog”) is two street blocks located between Crenshaw Blvd. and Van Ness Ave. in Torrance, CA. La Rana has a colorful history of immigrants who settled in 1908 from various parts of Mexico with the following surnames: Torres, Ordaz, Grajeda, Flores, Alvarez, Duarte, and Solis. These families fled the Mexican Revolution and religious persecution in search of a brighter future for their children.

Mexican Americans in Torrance is $20 and will be available for purchase, and signing (cash and checks, only). All proceeds from book sales on this Sunday will go directly to the Torrance Historical Society.

This event is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary, but seating is limited to first-come/first-served. Light refreshments will be served.
