Harlem was the cultural center of New York and a magnet for musicians, writers, artists, and performers whose creative activity was celebrated under the banner of the “New Negro Arts Movement.”  Among the dozens artists to be discussed will be James VanDerZee, Aaron Douglas, Jacob Lawrence, and Agusta Savage.
