Bona-fide Torrance-based, non-profit groups may submit events to be included in the Torrance citywide calendar pending approval. The City of Torrance Citywide Calendar System Administrator (Office of Cable and Community Relations) is responsible for determining which events are appropriate for posting and then approving a calendar entry. The administrator also has the capability to submit the event to other calendars so that your event may be posted on more than one calendar if appropriate. Events must occur within Torrance city limits to be considered for inclusion and submitted within the categories already identified within the calendar. Find out How To Submit.

Be The Change

Impact Teen Drivers and Safe Kids Worldwide are partnering with college organizations for the Be the Change Fellowship, a chance for college groups to gain community service opportunities as well as be eligible for $1,000 grants. Our organization’s vision is to create a widespread culture shift among teens and their influencers where reckless and distracted driving are recognized as unacceptable behaviors. The Be the Change Fellowship is a no-cost community service initiative for college students to get involved with local Safe Kids Coalitions and others working in injury prevention to help stop reckless and distracted driving crashes in their communities.

The Fellowships allow college students to develop their academic, civic, and professional interests while addressing the number one public health crisis affecting young people—reckless and distracted driving. Be the Change Fellows will learn to utilize positive community norms to engage, educate and empower their peers and younger audiences to think critically and make good choices. Specifically, the Fellows will engage underserved communities and students with evidence-based driver and passenger safety strategies and resources, educate youth and their influencers about preventing reckless and distracted driving, and empower students to be agents of change while using positive community norms to change the driving culture.
