Bona-fide Torrance-based, non-profit groups may submit events to be included in the Torrance citywide calendar pending approval. The City of Torrance Citywide Calendar System Administrator (Office of Cable and Community Relations) is responsible for determining which events are appropriate for posting and then approving a calendar entry. The administrator also has the capability to submit the event to other calendars so that your event may be posted on more than one calendar if appropriate. Events must occur within Torrance city limits to be considered for inclusion and submitted within the categories already identified within the calendar. Find out How To Submit.

EDD Work Sharing Program Webinar

  • Date: 01/12/2023 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

During the Great Recession, companies across the nation cut 22 million jobs. After coming out of a pandemic and reports of a possible economic downturn, we want to make sure employers are aware of the Work Sharing program.

Are you or employers you know already thinking about layoffs? Instead, they can cut hours and wages while we pay partial unemployment benefits. Employers can avoid the cost of hiring and training new employees when their business or the economy improves. This program has less impact on unemployment taxes than a full layoff, and it can positively affect employee morale and loyalty.

Register now to attend a one-hour virtual seminar on the Work Sharing Program, and please spread the word with your employer networks.

When: January 12, 2023, at 1 p.m.  (Due to high demand, the earlier webinar scheduled for 10 a.m. is full.)

You will learn:

  • What the Work Sharing Program is.
  • How it can help employers and employees during tough economic times.
  • Program eligibility.
  • How to apply.
  • Managing the program, and more!
