It’s been 34 years since the movie Top Gun appeared in theaters. Many consider it the breakout movie for Tom Cruise as an action figure. The Top Gun program still exists and the Top Gun 2 movie is coming out next Memorial Day, 2022 but you can hear and touch Top Gun program and plane on November 20 at the WMoF. The WMoF will host one of the men who lived Top Gun, retired Navy Captain Mike Rabens will share his experiences.
TG2, technically named “Maverick”, details much of what Rabens did and does. The plot of “Maverick” is highly effective program to train fighter pilots to prevail in air to air combat which is right down the alley of Rabens. Rabens will share his own experiences plus give us insight to his present job, Northrop Grumman Director of Systems Integration, Test & Evaluation. Mike is also President of the F-14 Tomcat Association.
Like the movies there is a supporting cast. The Navy’s F-14A Tom Cat will be on display at the WMoF during the lecture for all to see.
