Bona-fide Torrance-based, non-profit groups may submit events to be included in the Torrance citywide calendar pending approval. The City of Torrance Citywide Calendar System Administrator (Office of Cable and Community Relations) is responsible for determining which events are appropriate for posting and then approving a calendar entry. The administrator also has the capability to submit the event to other calendars so that your event may be posted on more than one calendar if appropriate. Events must occur within Torrance city limits to be considered for inclusion and submitted within the categories already identified within the calendar. Find out How To Submit.

WMoF Celebrity Series: Mach Busters

Ever use the phrase, “The speaker, a bestselling author, could really paint a picture with his words”. Well, this month’s Celebrity Speaker Mike Machat can do both. He is a bestselling author & prized artists with his legendary paintings. After you heard that author, did you also say, “He told us a lot of the behind the scenes & not-in-the-book stuff”. Again Machat fills that scenario too.

Machat is a USAF veteran who was stationed with the NSA in Washington, D. C. He will share many of the fascinating details of the challenges & scientific discoveries in this once mysterious realm of aviation. He will also share with us images of these exotic aircraft along with descriptions of their missions, the hazards they faced, & of course, their technological triumphs.

A CSULB grad that joined Douglas Aircraft Company as a technical illustrator, Machat quickly advanced through the ranks to Staff Artist & Corporate Representative for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation. Was the first president of the American Society of Aviation Artists. His aviation artwork has won numerous national & international awards, & is displayed in many museums & airline headquarters.

As an aviator, Mike has flown in more than 200 different types of aircraft & 2100 sailplanes flights alone.

Won’t you join us for an opportunity to hear & see some great historical facts vs. fiction from a pilot, author, artist, photographer, editor & commentator. Mike has done it all & then some.
