WMof Celebrity Series: Operation Iraqi Freedom, A Navy Pilot’s Perspective

WMOF CELEBRITY SERIES: OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, A NAVY PILOT’S PERSPECTIVE
It came into your household. It occupied your TV for years – the first live war in your living room. Now hear from a person who lived Operation Iraqi Freedom. Now thru Western Museum of Flight (WMoF) Celebrity Lecture Series you can hear from a US Navy pilot’s viewpoint. Lt. Cdr. Roderick Kurtz, (ret) will offer his perspective, his thoughts … to this day … and his feelings as to the guy who pulled the trigger on the war machine.

Iraqi Freedom imposed special restrictions and requirements on the US Navy’s air
warriors. It had shades of Viet Nam (a good portion of the opposition didn’t wear a uniforms, fought within city boundaries, civilian casualties were a way of life .. or death). Now the opposition had no uniforms and it was a religious fight from their outlook.

Within these guidelines, LCDR “Hot Rod” Kurtz fought. He will share his personal experiences, impressions, and most memorable moments from this extraordinary conflict. He will also share his harrowing experience of being forced to eject over water from a damaged Hawker Hunter aggressor aircraft.

Museum members free, non-members: $10. Parking available in Museum lot.
