Due to changes in politics and the advent of Protestantism, religious art changed radically.  We begin with a comparison of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel from its Renaissance style, to the new Mannerist School of Art.  Mannerism, also known as Late Renaissance, is a European art style that emerged in the later years of the Italian High Renaissance, circa 1520, lasting until the end of the 16^th century in Italy, when the Baroque style began to replace it.
