Join the Torrance Public Library and the City of Torrance Office of Emergency Services for a workshop on the information sources you need before and during a disaster or emergency. Learn how to sign up for Torrance Alerts messages by phone call, email, text or tweet. Learn who to follow on Twitter, what sources to have bookmarked on your tablet, and what apps to download now on your smartphone. From reading a fire map to learning what highways are closed, information flows rapidly during an event, and this workshop with help you prepare to get the latest information from your City, County and State when you need it most.
We will provide Google Chromebooks for live browsing and registration for Torrance Alerts at the event, and you are invited to bring your own smartphones and tablets in order to get your device set up with the info you need. Please be sure to bring your device fully charged, and with any logon or download credentials such as your password and AppleID. We will be covering resources available to landline telephones and desktop computers as well, so no smartphone or computer experience is required!
