Community Emergency Response Team logoCERT, or the Community Emergency Response Team, is a group of organized and trained volunteer disaster workers, at the neighborhood level. CERT members are prepared to be self-sustaining for five days following a large disaster. When disaster strikes, CERT volunteers spring into action: they check on neighbors, suppress small fires, conduct light urban search and rescue, and provide emergency medical aid and psychological comfort to their neighbors.

The Torrance Fire Department conducts CERT courses. If you are interested in CERT courses, please visit the CERT Registration page for the next upcoming class. For questions regarding new CERT members please contact Fire Prevention Specialist Daniel Singleton at DSingleton@TorranceCA.Gov. For inquiries on CERT refreshers please contact the Office of Emergency Services at OES@TorranceCA.Gov.
