SEPTEMBER 17, 2016

Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest volunteer day on the planet, which is coordinated with the Ocean Conservancy, California Coastal Commission, L.A. Department of Beaches and Harbors and Heal the Bay, and we thank them for their continued support and guidance in helping us making this event a huge success every year.  Torrance recognizes that by cleaning up Torrance Beach, the community is participating in this global effort to keep our oceans healthy, to keep our water source healthy, and to keep our community healthy.  Partnering with American Honda and the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, Team Torrance will be again be participating for another consecutive year. This year's event will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Miramar Park in Torrance.

As witnessed by members of City Council and staff, Coastal Cleanup Day received an overwhelming response from the public last year in Torrance, with a record number of volunteers in attendance.  If you would like more information about this year's beach cleanup at Torrance Beach, please contact Beach Captain Chris Travers at (310) 618-5867.

As Torrance Beach typically receives a large turnout of volunteers, please keep in mind that there are many other participating sites throughout L.A. County and the South Bay that need more volunteers. For a list of additional cleanup sites or infomation regarding Ocean Pollution Prevention programs please contact the Outreach Coordinator at (310) 618-5864.
