Welcome to the City of Torrance, one of the best kept secrets of Southern California. We are a balanced, full-service city of 21 square miles, with 13 departments to serve a residential population of 147,000. The Torrance community prides itself on its quality of life in the areas of public safety, schools, hospitals, community services, and transportation. These are the very reasons that many people find themselves wanting to live, work and play in a community we coin as "a City with a Hometown feel".
The mission of the Human Resources Division is to partner with City Departments to attract, retain and develop an effective workforce dedicated to delivering high quality services to the Torrance community.
The Human Resources staff provides a full range of services and programs to its employees and City Departments with a public and customer service focus. The highlights of the human resources programs are employment marketing, recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, performance management, employee relations, policy and program compliance, benefits administration, employee recognition, and organizational and staff development.
